LEGO Miss
Adventure Projects consists of seven challenges to plan and build ways
to survive a ship wreck near a tropical
island. Each student group must complete a journal and a LEGOCAD
rendering of their model. The seven challenges are: #1:
Salvage,
#2: Shelter, #3: Water, #4: Food, #5: Signal,
#6:
Transportation, #7: Rescue. Students are also encouraged to
draw a picture of their model and explain how it accomplishes the goals
set, and how it aids the ship wrecked islanders to survive until they
are
rescued.
This model of the shelter features an
automatic
garage door and an alarm programmed to sound an alert if anyone
ventures
too close. ROBOLAB is a LEGO software program used to enable
robotic
models to run commands. In this case, the Intelligent House will
sound an alert if the touch sensor is triggered by anything moving
against
it. The garage door is also programmed to open when the light
sensor
is triggered by any object that would change the value of the light to
darker. The car approaching the door will trigger the light
sensor.
This is an improved version of the #2 Shelter Challenge of the
2001-2002
LEGO Miss Adventure Project.
