Davis Creek Elementary 1999-2000
Mystery Object Project

The third year of the Mystery Object communication project went very well.  This
year we had the benefit of the previous two years experience that afforded us a
smooth lesson plan with excellent results.

The students start building the "Mystery Critter" from the instruction page

Mrs. Hamilton helps a student get correctly oriented with the four views of the "Mystery Critter"

Checking to see if the studs show up as depicted on the instruction page

Making sure that her model portrays all four views of the "Mystery Critter" correctly
These four pictures of the "Mystery Object"
are showing the three dimensional views of the
"Mystery Critter".  The Critters are carefully
placed to show the corresponding views on the instruction sheet.  The two-dimensional views are front, back,  right, and left.

These students are building models by communicating without looking.  Will their
models look the same?

These models turned out the same

These models did not turn out the same

These models are almost the same

After constructing an original model the students drew the four views

Drawing their models can be very difficult to do accurately

Checking her drawing

Getting all four views correctly drawn is quite a challenge
