| Round One: 1. The 3D LEGO Critter is made from
2D written instructions. It is more difficult than you might think! |
| 2. Allow students oral and visual communication to help bring rapid
success. Check each student and assist as needed to complete the
design. |
Round Two: 3. The next step is having students
working in pairs to build a project using only oral communication.
Pair students and seat them on the floor, back to back, so that they can
not see the other's project. Make sure all students have identical
LEGO sets of bricks. |
| 4. Working without feedback, one student begins to build a LEGO Critter
using only one piece, while giving only oral directions to his/her partner.
The partner tries to follow the oral direction. |
| 5. The next LEGO piece is chosen by the other student. Again,
only oral communications are given for the second student. |
| 6. The pairs of students continue to alternate turns and oral directions
until they have completed their LEGO Critters. |
| Round Three: 7. Repeat Round Two encouraging feedback
between students as they work to build their LEGO Critters. Compare
results with Round Two for increased productivity. |
| 8. The two students turn to face each other and compare their work.
Careful attention is given to methods of producing identical results. |
| Technology Component: 9. Have students construct
their LEGO Critters on graph paper, showing the front, back, left, and
right sides similar to the instruction sheet in Round One. |
| 10. Students will chose one LEGO Critter and construct it on LEGO Cad. |
