Mindstorms Robotics "Caterpillar Walk"
Davis Creek Elementary has a NASA Outreach Grant to extend our LEGO Dacta program for the fifth grade this school year, 1998-99.  We just received our MindStorms Robotics Kit with the programmable brick and the Windows 95 software program.  This page is the beginning of robotics models built by the fifth grade class under the direction of Mrs. Hamilton.  Mrs. Hamilton volunteers her time at Davis Creek Elementary to promote math, science, and engineering concepts.  Be sure to check in from time to time to see what robotics "critters" may be wandering our classroom!

A very fast runner"Breabug" is a very fast runner.  In fact, her long arms may just vault her over the moon!  The touch sensors on the front were designed to stop when coming into contact with an object, but the program didn't work as planned.  Plans are forming to change the prgramming so the robot will stop at one touch. 
This is the first RCX Robot Car made
This is the first vehicle the RCX was programmed to run.  When it runs into something it backs up and turns and then go forward again. 
He turns fast"JordoBug" moves back and forth and turns quickly. It can be controlled with touch controls.  It was programmed to flip and swivel. 
The robots use the programmable RCX brick  to store programs made in two languages:  The LEGO  Mindstorms Robotics and LEGO Dacta Robolab.

A pawl and rachet makes this robot turn when going backwards. 
Sopiabot is a ballerina"Sophiabot " is a ballerina.  She never falls off the edge of the table.

This LEGO Haunted House Ride was programmed using both the LEGO Control Lab software using the interface box and the RoboLab software using the RCX.
