Davis Creek Elementary
Builds "Simon City"

On November 21, 2000 the Davis Creek Elementary fifth grade class built "Simon City".  The day before the construction plans were made to develop the city in a logical way.  Each group was responsible for a place to live, a place to work, and a way to get back and forth.  It was also decided to have each group of three build sections of the city and everyone work together on the railroad system that would surround the city.

At 8:00am the class had removed all the furniture and had convened to start their construction.  Each group began to gather resources to complete their section of the city.

LEGO Duplo sets and elements were used to build promised components for "Simon City".

Sometimes plans had to be altered because of limited resources or to accommodate another citizen of the city.
Finishing touches make "Simon City" more hospitable to living and working.
City sections were moved into the center so that the train surrounded the city and made transportation easy for all the citizens of "Simon City".
Classes visited to admire the city and learn about its operation.
"Simon City" became a vibrant city that was well organized, functional, and provided living space, work places, and transportation to all its citizens.  It may be a great place to take your next vacation!
