Bucket
Crane with Conveyor Belt
Our crane dips the bucket in water and pulls it back up onto the conveyer belt.

Then the water  moves into a bigger bucket that is on the conveyor belt.  The conveyor belt moves the bucket and provides a nice supply of water.  It would take about 84 pepsi bottles or 186 liters of water to fill up the bucket.
This scanned drawing shows the crane lowering the weighted bucket into the well, that was dug by the stranded islanders to provide fresh drinking water.  The water is pulled up from the well, and then placed in a larger container on the conveyor belt. The crane can be adjusted to operate at any level, and will also swing around to pour the water from the well into the bucket on the conveyor belt.  The conveyor belt delivers the water to a central storage area for use by the islanders.
