The Davis Creek Elementary Mars Red Rover Project was presented to the West Virginia Science Conference in October 1999. Mrs. Linda Hamilton and Sharon Simon presented the project with a Power Point Presentation, an archive of photographs, a sampling of web sites on the internet, and a "hands-on" display. The conference also featured a luncheon and dinner with speakers. Mr. Homer Hickam, a West Virginia native, spoke to the assembly of conference attendees about the possibilities facing them today. Mr. Hickam has written a best selling novel, Rocketboys, that was produced into the movie October Sky. Mr. Hickam was gracious with his time and was presented a West Virginia sweatshirt by the WV Science Association.
